Creative Warwickshire Masterclass and Networking - Topic 'Creativity & Technology'
Creative Warwickshire – a dedicated and intensive business support programme aimed at creative and digital freelancers and businesses who have ambitions to grow their businesses, develop new markets and enhance their business skills – is pleased to be hosting their 'Creativity & Technology' Masterclass & Networking Event on the 15th June 2017 at the Episode Hotel in Leamington.
We are delighted to welcome our guest speakers, Sarah Ellis, Head of Digital Development for the Royal Shakespeare Companyand Sarah Jones, Deputy Head of School of Media & Performing Arts at Coventry University, who will discuss digital technology which is increasingly central to the creative process - from creating content to reaching new markets and audiences, technology is transforming how we work, live, create and consume, from VR, AR, AI and new developments and how we harness the power of digital technology.

Sarah Ellis, Head of Digital development for the Royal Shakespeare Company
Sarah Ellis is an award winning producer currently working as Head of Digital Development for the Royal Shakespeare Company to explore new artistic initiatives and partnerships. In 2016 she was awarded The Hospital Club and Creatives Industries award for cross industry collaboration for her work on The Tempest in collaboration with Intel and in association with The Imaginarium Studios.
In 2013 she was listed in the top 100 most influential people working in Gaming and Technology by The Hospital Club and Guardian Culture Professionals. In partnership with Google’s Creative Lab, she recently produced Midsummer Night’s Dreaming which won two Lovie Awards for Innovation and Experimentation. In 2012, she produced myShakespeare an online artistic commissioning platform for the World Shakespeare Festival.
In 2011, she was the producer of the RSC’s new work Adelaide Road, which mixed live performance with an app and website map. As a theatre and spoken word producer, she has worked with the Old Vic Tunnels, Battersea Arts Centre, Birmingham REP, Contact, Freeword, Improbable, Southbank Centre, Soho Theatre, and Shunt. She has been Head of Creative Programmes at the Albany Theatre and Programme Manager for Apples & Snakes, England’s leading performance poetry organisation.

Sarah Jones - Deputy Head of School of Media & Performing Arts at Coventry University
Sarah is an immersive storyteller, using 360 degree technology and virtual reality to bring together new forms of narrative. Sarah focuses on technological embodiment, understanding an environment and culture through being someone else in a virtual world. Her works interrogate ideas of increased presence through multi-sensory films and challenging perspectives within the virtual world. These tools are consequently applied to educational scenarios to foster experiential learning through VR and Sarah is an advocate for using virtual reality technology for teaching and learning.
Sarah is the co-founder of @VRGirlsUK and an active champion of women in technology. She is listed in the top 100 of global influencers in VR. She spent more than a decade working as a television reporter covering everything from the US elections 2008 to being in Sex and the City, Sarah moved into academia and works at Coventry University, happily spending her days immersed in a virtual world.
