Dr. Mark Wareing will be our speaker and will be looking at the rise and rise of the Chinese Automotive industry and its impact on the UK.
Dr. Wareing has a career spanning 30 years where he has been involved in many sectors including the chemical industry and in charge of international markets for leading automotive components companies. Most recently Dr. Wareing spent 7 years working in Asia where amongst many roles he was the Strategy Director at the British Embassy in China for 4 years. Dr. Wareing will look at the history of automotive industry in China, from a place of bicycles and rickshaws to now the world's largest car market. He will then explore the current Chinese market situation and its impact on UK. In particular Dr. Wareing explore the role of Her Majesty's Government in China and how both UK and Chinese government are working to open up markets, reduce market access barriers and stimulate exports and ODI and also FDI - investment from China to the UK.
