Prepare Your Workforce for Modernisation and High Speed Rail
Organiser
As the delivery of HS2 starts to gather pace, employers throughout the supply chain need to invest in skills. For the companies that design and construct HS2, investing in the skills of their workforce will not be a discretionary activity as creating opportunities for skills and employment is one of HS2’s seven strategic goals and is integral to HS2’s vision to be a catalyst for sustained and balanced growth across the UK. At this event you can learn more about how the National College for High Speed Rail can support your business to get ready for HS2 and help leave a lasting skills legacy.
The National College for High Speed Rail will produce a new generation of highly-skilled professionals to lead Britain’s future high speed rail workforce and enable industry to get ready to deliver HS2 and future transport infrastructure projects. This event will outline how businesses can engage with the College. You will have the opportunity to find out more about the National College for High Speed Rail and how you could work with the four pillars of our Leadership Pledge. You will also gain a clearer understanding of how the apprenticeship levy and standards work. Our staff will be on hand throughout the event to answer any questions about our the curriculum. There will also be an opportunity to book a 15 minute slot with our stakeholder engagement managers in our surgery sessions.
The National College for High Speed Rail is the largest of five new, national employer-led colleges being created by the Government to help students develop world-class skills. The college will play a central role in addressing the skills gap in UK engineering and the rail sector, when it opens its two state of the art campuses in Birmingham and Doncaster this September. Dedicated to providing the higher level training required to create HS2 and work on future infrastructure and rail modernisation projects, the college will offer higher apprenticeships, Higher Technical Certificates and CPD (Continued Professional Development) programmes, all of which are being developed with industry employers and taught by specialists in the subject.
Event Schedule:
- 13.00 – 14.00: Networking and refreshments
- 14.00 – 15.00: Presentations: TBC
