Registration of Interest: Midlands Engine Rail Mission to Irish Rail

DIT Ireland and DIT East Midlands are pleased to provide this exclusive opportunity for Midlands Engine rail suppliers to join a 1 day rail mission to Ireland for a 1-2-1 pre-approved meeting with Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) procurement officials, and a site visit.
About Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail)
Fleet and infrastructure:
Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), headquartered in Inchicore, Dublin provides passenger and freight services operating between Dublin and Belfast, Sligo, Ballina, Westport and other key destinations, as well as regional and commuter services and the DART service. They are responsible for a network of 2400 km including 5100 bridges and 1240 level crossings and 14 tunnels. Investment and procurement:
Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) has published a range of investment plans covering resignalling, fleet renewal for the Intercity Railcar and centralised traffic control. In addition, they have published their plans for medium to long term development of the railway in their 2030 Rail Network Strategy Review. This is your chance to express an interest in joining the visit early, free and without obligation. The event will take place during February 2018, but the final date has yet to be confirmed. However, we will notify you at the first opportunity.
What happens next?
On completion of registration, an application form including short questionnaire asking for information about your products/services will be emailed to you – submission is required by 29/11/2017 at 12noon. Due to the tight timeframes, we are unable to provide any extensions.
Once completed Irish Rail will select who they wish to meet based on this information, to ensure that interests are aligned. DIT will keep you informed and you should not commit to any flights until we confirm an offered appointment. Should you then decide to join the visit, further information on costs and travel arrangements are outlined below.

Proposed Programme (subject to change):
8:00-8:30 Arrival and refreshments
8:30-9:00 Welcome and introductions from UK Ambassador to Ireland
9:00-9:15 Midlands Engine: First Class Rail Capability – an introduction
9:15-10:00 Irish Rail – overview of organisation, investment pipeline and procurement journey, followed by Q&A
10:00-10:15 Refreshment break
10:15-12:15 One to One with Irish Rail procurement team. Each appointment will be a maximum of 30 minutes duration comprising 10 minute company presentation and 20 minute discussion
12:15-12:30 Transfer to lunch
12:30-14:00 Networking lunch with Irish Rail procurement team and selected invitees from other departments in Irish Rail
14:00-15:30 Depot tour (transfer time to be confirmed)
15:30-16:00 Wrap up and close
16:00 Transfer to Airport (provided by DIT, but delegates will need to indicate if they require this)
Costs:
There is a charge of just £165 per company (single delegate). A second delegate (maximum) will incur £50 charge. On selection by Irish Rail, you will be notified and invoiced. Final confirmation will be issued on receipt of payment only. The cost includes a group DIT Overseas Market Information Service (OMIS) charge and a group transfer from Inchicore to Dublin airport. You will be responsible for all other travel costs and bookings. Please note that delegates need to be ready and at the venue for the 8:30 commencement of the programme. This may require flying to Dublin the evening before.
Eligibility:
Any UK registered company with a registered office and/or primary trading address in the Midlands Engine region will be eligible to register. (Midlands Engine comprises East and West Midlands regions.) We anticipate a high level of interest for this mission, however any UK registered companies located outside of the Midlands Engine region that are interested in participating should register their interest by emailing info@tradeEM.co.uk.
If numbers allow, you will be invited to complete the registration on a first come/first served basis. Non Midlands Engine companies should expect a reduced timeframe to complete the registration requirements and questionnaire and we will be unable to provide any extensions.
