Young Coventry and Warwickshire professionals gathered for an evening of winter networking, with a trio of inspiring guest speakers sharing their success stories.
More than 60 delegates attended Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub’s Young Champions event at Millsy’s in Coventry, hearing from a student who runs a brand videography business, a 25-year-old finance manager who started as an apprentice, and an engineer hoping to decarbonise the aviation industry.
Alexis Considine, group finance manager for The Wigley Group, reflected on her growth from apprentice to an instrumental role at the property and construction firm over the last seven years.
University of Warwick student Chris Haywood, 20, gave insight on the challenges of running his media business, Haywood Productions, creating content for local businesses and top brands while completing a degree in politics and international studies.
Radovan Gallo, 30, founder of Flux Aviation, spoke of his motivations for moving to the UK from Slovakia to study engineering and then launching, funding and growing his own venture, based in Warwick, which is developing electric powertrains for domestic flights.
The event, which provides a network for professionals under 30 to meet and discuss their early careers, runs alongside the Growth Hub’s Coventry and Warwickshire Champions events, which bring up to 250 businesspeople together from across the region every other month.
Craig Humphrey, CEO at Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub Group, said: “We were thrilled with the turnout and the energy in the room, which offered a rare chance for young people in the region to come together, socialise and find out about the brilliant work happening in all industries.
“Our three guest speakers offered some extremely valuable and wide-ranging insights from working in the region, with a strong message that there is no ‘right way’ of finding success.”
