Syscomm, based in Electric Wharf in Coventry, is an IT firm which provides continuous support to its business customers all over the UK.
The firm, run by CEO Chris Tyler, provides a wide variety of services including cloud support, business broadband and wired, wireless and cloud networks – but it was its remote working services that created a surge in demand in 2020.
Following an incredibly successful 2019 for the business, Syscomm was looking to grow its team by finding candidates in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Challenge
Although Syscomm had done relatively well during the pandemic and wanted to expand its team, it found it was hard to find the perfect candidates to fill its vacancies. Syscomm did have its own sources of potential candidates, but the firm felt they were missing out on talent from other places. Chris wanted to ensure the firm left no stone unturned when looking for new staff, but was unsure of the best way of doing so.
The Solution
Syscomm contacted the Growth Hub for help in finding more candidates than it might have done alone. The Growth Hub was able to provide support through the Coventry City Council Employer Hub, which is enabling Syscomm to access a wider pool of talent for its senior vacancies. Syscomm was also introduced to the ‘FinditinCW’ portal and its associated Employment Solutions Hub, which allows businesses to look locally for other firms to help with supply chain issues.
Further help was given through the Growth Hub’s ‘Peer to Peer Network’ which encourages local collaboration, and through the Hub’s connections with nearby schools to allow Syscomm to get involved in their open days or career fairs once the pandemic has subsided.
The Result
Syscomm has been able to identify highly talented candidates thanks to the Growth Hub’s help, and is now in the process of filling its vacancies and completing the firm’s expansion.
