Midlands Engine: Market Visit to ‘The Big 5’

The Midlands Engine initiative aims to boost economic growth across the region through
enhanced trade and investment. This is your chance to meet thousands of key buyers at
the largest construction event in the Middle East.
About the event
The Big 5 has been attracting construction experts from all over the world for the last 36 years. As the
construction market has boomed, so have the opportunities for both visitors and exhibitors at the
largest and most established construction event in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Why you should attend The Big 5
In 2015, around 110,000 visitors registered their attendance at the Big 5, where over 3000 companies
exhibited from 67 countries.
By joining the Midlands Engine Group to Big 5 2016, you will be able to visit the show and participate
in one to one meetings with buyers and market experts, organised by
the Department for International Trade (DIT) both at the show and
during a visit to Abu Dhabi.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in the additional activity
arranged by DIT, including a networking reception and the many
seminars taking place at the show itself.
20th November: Arrival and check in Informal meet and greet (flight times permitting)
21st November: Day 1
Welcome and in-market briefing – Introduction to UAE:
Doing Business, Legal and regulatory issues, Routes to Market, Construction Industry overview and opportunities
Big 5 Exhibition Opens:
Pre-arranged one to one meetings with buyers and market experts
Free time at exhibition to pursue your own business objectives
22nd November: Day 2
Dubai World Trade Centre: Britain in the Region and Infrastructure conference:
Opportunity for meetings and networking and/or pursue own business objectives
Evening Reception bringing together the Midlands Engine delegates and potential buyers,
partners and investors.
23rd November: Day 3
British Embassy Abu Dhabi:Depart by Coach to Abu Dhabi
Welcome and in-market briefing
Doing business, construction industry overview and opportunities
Networking lunch
Presentations and meetings with Abu Dhabi planning authorities covering infrastructure projects.
Return by coach to Dubai
24th November: Day 4
Free time at show for meetings and/or pursue own business objectives.
25th November: Day 5
Continue visit or return to UK

Cost, Eligibility and Grants
A £350 + VAT commitment fee is applicable for each organisation. Any extra delegates wishing to participate from the same
organisation will be charged an additional £100 + VAT per delegate. This will cover some in-market event costs, but
delegates need to meet their own flight and accommodation costs. Financial support of £600 is available for companies in
the Midlands Engine area meeting the required eligibility criteria as detailed on the application form
