Trade Briefing: Free Trade Agreements

Organiser

Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce

We compare a number of exisitng FTA's. What benefits do they offer over and above WTO rules? Do they make trade significantly easier or cheaper? We also look at thte issue of origin rules which is likely to be a key topic in future years if we leave the EU customs union.

Since the Brexit vote in 2016 there has been a lot of talk about Free Trade Agreements (FTA) being the future of UK trade. But what are FTA’s? We already have access to numerous agreements with markets such as Canada, Turkey and Mexico. What value do these add? And how can SME’s use them to make exporting easier and more profitable?

Join our exciting event for an introduction to the topic and an update on how FTA’s could become more important post-Brexit.

Presentations will include:

  • An introuduction to FTA's
  • What benefits do they offer? How do they compare to WTO rules or the Single Market
  • Current FTA's through the EU
  • Preferential Origin (Likely to be a key issue as we depart the EU Cutoms Union)
  • How to use an FTA when importing and exporting
  • Approved Exporter Status
