The Midlands Intelligent Mobility Conference 2016

Intelligent Mobility brings together technology applications with new transport services. It places travellers at the heart of the transport system and enables the concept of mobility as a service. Driven by the rapid pace of technology development it will improve safety and mobility and reduce transport impacts.
The Midlands Intelligent Mobility Conference will take place at Loughborough University on 30 November- 1 December 2016. It will provide a national platform to bring together industry, government and the academic sector to look at the national strategies to develop this rapidly growing sector.
High-level speakers will present government and industry initiatives to support Intelligent Mobility and help develop the UK skills base. Special sessions will promote new collaborations with the academic sector.
Plenary Sessions include
- Autonomous and connected transport systems
- Improving safety for all road users
- The global perspective on Intelligent Mobility
- Local authorities – how to implement urban mobility
- User-centred approaches and Mobility as a Service
- Improving urban transport with disruptive technologies

Workshop options
The conference will also include a series of workshops intended to develop skills and encourage new cooperative initiatives. The workshops will run in parallel so please select which workshops you'd like to attend when booking.
- Research road maps for intelligent mobility: This workshop will allow participants to contribute to an important road mapping document which will outline the research required to enable a quick and smooth transition to a world where Intelligent Mobility is a reality.
- Consortium building for future research calls: Facilitated by the KTN, this workshop will offer the opportunity to develop new consortia around specific funding calls. Calls tbc
- Cyber security: The biggest challenge facing Intelligent Mobility? This workshop will introduce this challenge, its implications for Intelligent Mobility and the commercial and research challenges and opportunities.
- Opportunities in new mobility: How business can engage and benefit. This workshop will give businesses (particularly SMEs) an opportunity to hear the latest thinking from industry leaders on the direction new mobility is taking and offers a forum to discuss how best to engage for mutual benefit.
Ideas forum
PhD students and SMEs will have a special opportunity to participate in a dedicated elevator pitch session where they can make a short presentation describing their work and seeking relevant support. Details of how to participate in this session are available on our website.
The conference is organised by Loughborough, Coventry, De Montfort, Leicester, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent Universities in partnership with the Transport Systems Catapult.
