CovPress Ltd Administration
Administrators from Grant Thornton were called in last Thursday at Coventry based Covpress Limited, a leading Automotive supply company, who employ over 800 people in the UK. They have sought to reassure staff it is very much business as usual, with a strong order book from major Automotive manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors and Renault. The Administrators say they there are no immediate plans to make redundancies as they try to stabilise the firm and attempt to find a buyer.
Over the last 3 days the Coventry & Warwickshire LEP Growth Hub has liaised with the Administrators, Coventry City Council, the Department of Work and Pensions, Jobcentre Plus, the Citizens Advice Bureau, and local MP’s, and at this time has the understanding that redundancies are unlikely.
Should the situation change, these organisations are liaising in order to provide a co-ordinated approach, and will be ready to support those employees affected, with a co-ordinated point of contact via the Growth Hub www.cwgrowthhub.co.uk working with the Coventry City Council Job Shop http://coventry.gov.uk/jobshop for all of the information and support available.
In addition, we have spoken to organisations including CWRT (Coventry & Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust http://cwrt.uk.com/ ) who may be able to assist suppliers affected by outstanding payments from CovPress.
Phil Peak, Senior Account Manager at the Growth Hub, confirmed any employee or Business affected in the region should go to the Growth Hub website for information on the support available, and appropriate contacts.
