Warwickshire Engages Businesses with Local Schools

Businesses can save around £5,000 each time they recruit a school or college leaver directly (Source: ACAS report 2015) rather than through an agency.

More than a thousand young people aged 16,17 or 18 leave Warwickshire schools and colleges every year seeking employment. They make ideal apprentices. More and more 'A' level students are choosing to go into work with continuing training and development rather than go to university.

Schools and colleges are keen to develop the work-readiness of their students and help them find suitable jobs.

That's why Warwickshire County Council is working with boroughs and districts to provide a Skills breakfast meeting for businesses and Headteachers of their local schools. The purpose of the meeting is to enable businesses and schools to discuss their skills challenges and form new relationships which could lead to joint-working in future.
