Council’s buildings light up blue in support of local NHS heroes

The Royal Pump Rooms, Royal Spa Centre and Leamington Town Hall were illuminated blue earlier this week in a demonstration of support and thanks to the district’s local NHS and key worker heroes.

Local company PSL Distribution Ltd shone a light on Leamington’s local landmarks to pay tribute to the staff and volunteers on the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus.

Councillor Martyn Ashford, Chairman of Warwick District Council, said: “It’s almost a year since the gravity of this virus became apparent, and our unsung heroes across the district continue to put themselves at the forefront of the pandemic.

“Our show of support and solidarity in lighting up our iconic landmarks reminds our key workers that we acknowledge their sacrifice and are united in tackling this together.

“It’s important for us all to remember that we must do everything we can to protect ourselves, each other and our local NHS services by staying home as much as possible, washing our hands, covering our face, and making space.”

The flag at Leamington Town Hall was also flown at half-mast on Wednesday 3 February, in tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore.
