Midlands developer receives internationally recognised health and safety management standard
An internationally-recognised health and safety management standard has been awarded to a leading Midlands developer.
Deeley Group, which is headquartered in Coventry, has been awarded the ISO 405001 standard for health and safety at work by the British Assessment Bureau – the main body for management standards in the UK.
It is the first time the business has achieved the designation which recognises an exceptionally high standard of occupational health and safety both in the office and out on site.
Deeley Group has been working towards the achievement for six months and formed a health and safety committee to guide the project.
Significant investment was made by the company during the project including inviting external occupational health experts in to advise on improvements that could be made.
Safety critical medicals including eyesight, hearing, lung capacity, dermatitis and diabetes checks were carried out for all staff.
The British Assessment Bureau awarded Deeley Group the health and safety management standard following a comprehensive four-day audit.
Deeley Group already held the ISO 19001 standard for environmental management.
Keith Galletly, Health and Safety Manager at the Deeley Group, said: “This is fantastic news for the Deeley Group and is great recognition of the work we do to make our offices and sites a safe place for our staff to work.
“Our people make our business what it is and their wellbeing is of upmost priority.
“It’s uncommon for small to medium sized contractors to hold this standard of health and safety, and by achieving this standard it demonstrates the Deeley Group’s commitment to high standards in that area.
“We were audited over four days, with time spent in our George House headquarters and also out on site, and we were delighted to pass the assessment with flying colours.
“As a business we will be continuing to invest in improving our health and safety practices and the wellbeing of our staff, building on the standards we have set ourselves through this assessment process.”
