WDC Net Zero Carbon Development Plan Document
People are invited to share their views on the proposed main modifications made to Warwick District Council’s Net Zero Carbon Development Plan Document (DPD) following the public hearings which took place in March 2023 and the subsequent submission of the document to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate.
The latest consultation which runs until 17 July, is one of the final stages that need to be completed in order for the new policy to be adopted. Successful implementation will impose rigorous standards on new developments to help meet the Council’s ambitious Climate Emergency target of becoming net zero carbon or as close as possible by 2030, and the Government’s target of meeting net zero carbon nationally by 2050.
Councillor Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, Councillor James Kennedy said: “This planning policy document is a vital part of our plans to tackle climate change in the district. Without this policy intervention we will continue to see new homes being built that are adding to our carbon emissions and will require retrofitting at some time in the future.”
“The aim of this consultation is to enable interested parties to comment on the proposed main modifications to ensure that they comply to legal requirements and are considered sound.”
Responses to the Net Zero Carbon DPD, Proposed Main Modifications Consultation, must be received by midnight on Monday 17 July 2023 and can be submitted in the following ways:
- Through the Council’s online consultation system
- Via email to planningpolicy@warwickdc.gov.uk
- Or by post to FAO Planning Policy, NZC-Main Modifications Consultation, Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Leamington Spa, CV32 5HZ
