West Midlands storage company's 27 mile charity walk raise thousands

A team of managers from a business centre and self-storage company with sites across the West Midlands have put their best foot forward to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Self-Storage Managers Kelsey Carter, of Squab Evesham; Andrew Kay, of Squab Leamington; and Rob Sharp, of Squab Rubery; have raised £2,666 after taking on a 27-mile sponsored walk.

The charity challenge was held in aid of Maggie’s, a charity which supports individuals and families fighting cancer and is close to the hearts of the Squab senior management team.

The Managers for Maggie’s team walked from Squab Evesham to Squab Leamington to raise the funds.

The charity event, which was sponsored by Active CCTV & Surveillance Ltd, Keepers Cottage On-line Auctions and Paperock Creative, then culminated in a celebratory barbecue at the Leamington site.

The total amount raised was boosted by a raffle held at the Leamington site – with the prize of an afternoon tea for two donated by neighbouring Mallory Court Hotel up for grabs.

Kelsey said: “We’re extremely pleased to raise so much for Maggie’s – a charity which provides an incredible amount of support to families fighting cancer.

“We set off at around 5am and had planned for rain, but it was actually a really hot, sunny day which provided us with an extra challenge as we didn’t have much shade along the route.

“We don’t get much chance to catch up, so it was fantastic for us to all get together as a management team and chat about everything taking place at our Squab sites.

“With blistered feet and exhausted from the heat, I actually dropped out at 21 miles and was replaced by substitute Andrea Finn, from the Leamington site, and the three finished the challenge at around 5.30pm after plenty of water breaks!

“We received a fantastic welcome in Leamington from our teams and enjoyed a lovely barbecue together. We’d like to thank our sponsors, Mallory Court Hotel as well as everyone who sponsored us.”
