College recruitment drive to support creative courses after funding boost
Creatives in and around the West Midlands are being sought to help lead the next generation of professionals after a major investment.
Coventry College will host a Creative Industries Talent Recruitment Event on Monday, August 14 in a bid to place creative artists, business owners and experts in teaching roles to support the growth of the creative sector.
The event comes off the back of a £300,000 investment in the college’s creative and digital facilities, funded by Strategic Development Fund and T Level funding, and aims to give creative people of all ages the opportunity to help learners make the best possible start in the industry by learning from their experience in the field.
The improvements, which include new industry-standard classrooms and teaching spaces, have been commissioned in anticipation of the role the sector is expected to play in economic growth in the coming years, creating an estimated 300,000 jobs by 2025 and adding £28bn to the UKs economy.
Coventry College’s creative programme includes courses in Art & Design, Fashion, Photography, Media and Architecture, Games and Esports as well as a brand-new T Level in Digital Technology. Part and full-time options are available, with no teaching experience required.
Laura Jonhson, Director of Creative & Service Industries at Coventry College, said that thanks to subject specific and industry focussed CPD that Coventry College offers, a career in FE would suit experienced teachers who want to develop themselves as practitioners in their field.
She said: “For small business owners, those coming up to retirement, or experienced school teachers looking for a change, there are few careers more rewarding than using your knowledge, skills and experience to help the next generation succeed. And with major investment in our creative department in recent months, it really is an exciting time to be joining us.
“We are on the lookout for passionate individuals who love their subject or vocation, who want to throw themselves into a new challenge and support learners with their progression in the creative industries and as individuals.
“We can offer flexible working arrangements with great benefits and plenty of progression opportunities, and we’d love to meet plenty of people at out talent event this month to find out how we can help them take the next step in their careers.”
