Local business Donates Clothing to Hostel
Rather than destroying or returning a surplus stock of workwear, a local business has donated a consignment of trousers to Warwick District Council’s direct access hostel.
A chance conversation between the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing Councillor Jan Matecki and a member of the procurement team at Warwick based company Leadec, made way for the delivery of over 1000 pairs of trousers, to the Council, who have now made arrangements to distribute them to William Wallsgrove House as well as local charities including the Salvation Army and Helping Hands.
Councillor Matecki commented;
“This type of gesture, really can make a big difference. I want to thank Leadec for their very practical donation which will benefit some of the most vulnerable in our society.”
Leadec’s board of management commented;
“In our process of reviewing our supply base which has altered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we identified that we were holding surplus stock of old workwear, which is no longer current specification. We’re delighted that a member of our staff used her initiative to find a positive use for these products. We, at Leadec, hope that the distribution of the garments to local homeless shelters and charities will provide a small comfort to those needing support.”
