West Midlands Trains signals commitment to support leisure and hospitality in Coventry

West Midlands Trains has signalled its commitment to supporting leisure and hospitality businesses in Coventry by joining Destination Coventry as a Patron member.

Destination Coventry Patrons have pledged to support the wider destination marketing and management efforts to raise the profile of Coventry and the wider region to national and international audiences.

West Midlands Trains operates West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway services, including connecting Coventry to Birmingham, London and towns throughout Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

It is set to launch a range of two-for-one entry tickets to provide a boost for tourism attractions in Coventry.

And in a further benefit to the city’s hospitality sector the train operator is offering affordable evening return travel on their routes to make it cheaper and easier for people to head into Coventry city centre for a drink, food or to take in a show.

As part of its further commitment to Coventry as Patrons of the city’s destination management organisation, West Midlands Trains will be highlighting what Coventry has to offer to bring more visitors to the city.

West Midlands Trains has also launched other initiatives to support businesses and students in the city.

Businesses can benefit from a free online platform for booking and managing business train travel, while students over 16 can enjoy half price travel with a student season ticket.

New trains have also been introduced on the line which connects Nuneaton to Leamington Spa through Coventry, showcasing the continued investment in the Warwickshire area. 

Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at West Midlands Trains, said: “We are committed to supporting tourism, leisure and hospitality in the West Midlands which is why we have joined Destination Coventry as Patron members.

“By bringing forward new offers and promotional campaigns we hope to be able to play our part in boosting the tourism economy in the city.”

Destination Coventry launched in 2021 and features two established brands, Visit Coventry and Conference Coventry and Warwickshire.

Its Patron members include CV Life, No Ordinary Hospitality Management, Warwickshire County Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust, Events by Amadeus and Coventry Building Society Arena.

West Midlands Trains is encouraging passengers to book tickets directly through its app to avoid booking fees and be able to access a live feed of real-time updates from the network.
