Warwickshire Economics, is the County Council’s economic research and analysis function, part of the Economy and Skills Group based in Warwick. Over years, Warwickshire Economics has become widely recognised for high quality research and analysis. From this strong foundation we have ambitious plans for the future.

We provide intelligence and advice on Warwickshire's economy to senior managers and councillors. Our work underpins many policy and investment decisions as the Council invests significantly in transport, broadband and business support and provides jobs and training for our residents.

Warwickshire Economics serves our business support, inward investment, strategic employment & skills teams and works with other County Council teams and partners to develop new projects and programmes to deliver economic growth.

The wider Group also leads on relationships with our Local Enterprise Partnership and external funders and undertake work on behalf of partner organisations and external clients. 

The Role

You will lead the Warwickshire Economics team by providing specialist support, intelligence and analysis on the local economy.

This is a fantastic time to lead the team as you to help shape economic development in Warwickshire and the wider region.

This year, and those immediately ahead, will bring unique challenges in local economic development and you will play a lead role in the development of strategies which impact directly on the Warwickshire economy. You will undertake research, utilise economic theory to identify and develop policy solutions and produce regular reports for the Council, partner organisations and local businesses.

By leading on economic impact assessments you will support the development of business cases and applications for external funding. You will play a lead role in the Council’s input to the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership and the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Our economists network extensively in both public and private sectors and you will participate in regular events including public lectures hosted by the Bank of England at the University of Warwick.

You will be based in Warwick, an attractive town with excellent road and rail connections to Birmingham, the Black Country, Oxfordshire and the south-east. You will join a council which is proud of its supportive culture with a high emphasis on training and staff development. Key Requirements

You will have a degree in Economics or a related subject and a sound understanding of economic theory and principles and how they relate to local economic development.

You will have strong numerical skills and significant experience of undertaking economic research, providing advice and using current economic intelligence.

You will be adept at leading a small team and be an excellent ambassador for the Council, with high communication and interpersonal skills which enable you to build strong relationships with partner organisations and other external clients.
