WCC Apprenticeship Levy Small Business Support Programme
Warwickshire County Council is pleased to announce the launch of our new Apprenticeship Levy share programme. We are keen to make apprenticeship funds reach as far as possible by supporting businesses and residents who would benefit greatly from such investment.
This scheme not only provides apprenticeship support but can also potentially unlock a whole variety of business services from our partners such as staff training, business growth funding, property search, tender opportunities and growing your network. The new scheme has £300,000 for 2019 to help businesses take on more apprentices by covering the full training costs associated with an apprenticeship.
We would like to hear initially from businesses that are looking to take on their first apprentice or increase their number of apprentices as part of the businesses growth plans.
The following sectors are of particular interest to us:
- Health and Social Care
- Rail
- Childcare
- Travel and Tourism
- Advance Manufacturing
- Hospitality
However if you are on a business growth pathway please do get in touch as there may be an alternative route of support.
The Apprenticeship Levy Small Business Support Programme also offers the opportunity for all businesses to recruit a supported young person with an apprenticeship work opportunity.
Across the county we have hundreds of supported young people who may have not have found the right role for them yet. These youngsters bring with them a whole host of untapped skills and will flourish in the right environment.
Many supported young people hold a wide variety of potential skills and are a really effective solution for businesses in combatting skills shortages.
As a recognised opportunity for businesses we have also dedicated part of our budget to support business in doing just that. Whilst offering someone the opportunity to gain life skills and of course a qualification, businesses can also implement a new skills source and recruitment process with support from ourselves along the way.
The scheme will open from April 2019 and is subject to eligibly checks. Our Business Skills Advisor will work with you to undertake a free review of your training and recruitment needs, and help identify whether an apprenticeship is the best route for your company and can help advise on suitable types of apprenticeship for your company.
