Council seeks views on fields, sports and pools for the future in Kenilworth
Local residents and community groups in Kenilworth are being invited to have their say on three schemes; “pools for our future”, “sports for our future” and “fields for our future” in a public consultation which opens on 4 November.
Warwick District Council has organised a number of drop-in events, where the public will be asked to give their feedback on new plans on display for Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, Castle Farm Recreation Centre and the proposed new home for the Kenilworth Wardens. At the same time participants will be encouraged to take part in an information gathering exercise for Abbey Fields, which will help to inform a management plan for the wider parkland.
Seven drop-in sessions will take place on dates between 9 and 30 November at Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, Castle Farm Recreation Centre, the Kenilworth Centre and the Holiday Inn (dates, times and venues are listed below). At these events staff from the project teams will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments on plans which will see the creation of a second indoor pool at Abbey Fields and a new leisure centre with sports hall, 80 station gym and studios at Castle Farm. The outline plans for new Kenilworth Wardens facilities will also be on display. The ‘Fields for our Future’ consultation will aim to gain the opinions of Abbey Fields park users.
The Consultation surveys can also be completed online from 4 November until 9 December 2019 by visiting www.forourfuture.co.uk.
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Culture, Councillor Moira Ann Grainger commented;
“The designs we are putting forward for Kenilworth’s Leisure Centres are the results of many months of work with our partners and groups who use the centres to develop facilities for the future which are exciting, accessible and sustainable. These plans have already received some very positive feedback from schools, sports and disability groups. We would now like local residents and the wider public to take a closer look.”
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services, Councillor David Norris added;
“Abbey Fields is a fantastic open space and one of the jewels of our district. It is therefore really important that people let us know how they currently use the park and its facilities and what we could do to improve it. This information will help to shape our plans for the future to encourage more physical activity and greater health and well-being while preserving the natural environment and history of the space.”
