Inside the new sports bar at Coventry Building Society Arena as it gears up for packed sporting schedule
A new ‘eater-tainment’ bar and restaurant has opened in Coventry this month at the newly named Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Anecdote has already been packed out for the return of live sport to the Arena, and for a capacity-crowd screening of some of August’s big sporting events, such as the final match of the British & Irish Lions tour, and the finals day of cricket’s Hundred.
The Anecdote is the perfect backdrop for a social occasion, welcoming individuals, parties, children and families.
Ten widescreen TVs – including a wall-sized screen – provide the background entertainment for the interactive games around the venue, including shuffleboard and a giant foosball table. There are even booths with personal screens so fans can choose what sports channel to watch.
Open seven days a week from 11am to 11pm, from lunch through to late night drinks, The Anecdote is set to be the premier destination for groups of friends to meet, eat and have fun.
Its 400 square metre, double-sided bar serves a range of craft beers, cocktails and soft drinks to sample while taking on your friends in a four-on-four foosball festival. The beer range includes choices from local brewery, Purity, as well as cult heroes such as Beavertown Neck Oil.
The sports bar themed menu has plenty of choices designed for groups to share such as Bulleit Bourbon Wings and Pulled Pork Loaded Fries as well as masses of options for those who don’t like to share their food. There is also a children’s menu.
To celebrate a jam-packed September of amazing sporting events such as the Ryder Cup, new NFL season and the return of Gallagher Premiership Rugby, from Monday, August 30 to Friday, September 3, The Anecdote will be offering a 50 per cent discount across its food menu.
Bookings for the 50 per cent discount need to be made in advance at The Anecdote’s website www.anecdotebar.co.uk
Amy Burgess, General Manager at The Anecdote, said: “It has been great to see people visiting the bar over the last month, but now we’re ready to ramp up our operations.
“We’ve enjoyed some great days and nights already here at The Anecdote, and the bar is already realising its potential as a social hub here in Coventry.
“Eating and drinking is no longer about grabbing a pint and a plate, people want it to be an experience, and we believe everyone who visits The Anecdote will come away thinking they have experienced something new.
“The interactive games we have around the bar have proved a huge hit, we hope that in the weeks, months and years to come people make some incredible memories here at The Anecdote.”
