Social enterprises are mission-led businesses that reinvest or donate at least half their profits for a social or environmental purpose. Hope 4 The Community CIC is set up to empower people living with long-term conditions and carers to take control of their health and wellbeing through a range of evidence-based self-management programmes, called the Hope Programme, delivered in-person and online, licensed to a variety of organisations across the public, voluntary and private sectors.

These prestigious national awards are run by Social Enterprise UK to recognise sector-leading excellence and innovation across a diverse range of criteria, and H4C is shortlisted in the Tech for Good: Technology Social Enterprise of the Year category.

Gabriela Matouskova, CEO of Hope 4 The Community CIC, said: “We are honoured to be recognised in the UK Social Enterprise Awards for a second year running. We introduced online delivery during the pandemic and since then over 13,000 people have benefitted from our online Hope Programme courses. This nomination encourages us to continue our mission to improve health outcomes for those with long-term conditions and carers. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and inspired by the incredible work of other social enterprise finalists. We hope this recognition will also bring attention to the need for more investment in community-led health approaches and sustainable technology.”

Winners will be announced at a VIP ceremony in London’s iconic Roundhouse on Wednesday 4 December.

There are an estimated 131,000 social enterprises in the UK, employing more than two million people and contributing £60bn to the national economy each year, while also tackling some of the biggest challenges facing people and planet.

Peter‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌ Holbrook CBE, chief executive of Social Enterprise UK, commented: “Our awards are the ultimate showcase of social enterprise impact and excellence – so those who made the shortlist represent the future of business, and a beacon of hope in turbulent times. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌Despite economic challenges, these trailblazers are not only making profit but using it for the good of people and planet. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌Businesses big and small have a vital role to play in solving the problems we face as a society, and the social enterprises celebrated at our Awards give us all inspiration and motivation to do business better.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
