Coventry receptionist named recipient of company's most prestigious prize
A Coventry receptionist has been named the winner of a construction and development company’s most prestigious award.
Vicky Hancocks is a receptionist and admin assistant at the Deeley Group and a well-known face to visitors to the company’s George House headquarters.
She has been named as the 14th recipient of the Gary Neville Award which was created in 2012 in tribute to the former Deeley Group contracts manager and is voted for by employees of the company, and on two occasions has been awarded to two individuals in the same year.
Gary Neville passed away in 2011, and the award in Gary’s name recognises the employee who has demonstrated the most commitment to their role within the company over the previous year.
He joined the company as an apprentice and went on to lead some of the firm’s major projects, including the development of Belgrade Plaza in Coventry.
Vicky joined the Deeley Group 18 months ago after a career in sales and was praised by her colleagues for always being willing to help and how she has quickly become an integral member of the team.
“To win the award was really unexpected but I’m incredibly proud to have been chosen by my colleagues,” said Vicky.
“Since joining, I have loved every second of my time here and I feel already like I’m part of the Deeley family.
“I’ve enjoyed being able to help out across the business, from the day-to-day operations to the major charity nights.
“I didn’t know Gary but I’ve heard a lot about him, and everyone who worked with Gary talks about how he is sorely missed and was a very valued member of the team.
Peter Deeley, joint managing director of Deeley Group, said: “Vicky has shown great commitment since joining us and already reflects the values of the Deeley Group.
“Every year this award presents us with the opportunity remember Gary, and we are sure he would agree that Vicky is a much-deserving recipient of this year’s award.”
