Full refurbishment underway at Coventry four-star hotel
A four-star hotel in Coventry is set for major investment as it undergoes a full refurbishment.
Work is underway on the transformation of the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at Coventry Building Society Arena – which opened under the Doubletree brand in 2015 – and the project is set for completion by Summer 2024.
The refurbishment will be completed in stages to ensure the hotel stays open to guests throughout the project.
It will see significant investment from the hotel with all 121 bedrooms being renovated, a new-look lobby, restaurant and the introduction of new technology in bedrooms.
The hotel was last refurbished seven years ago and is working with Leicestershire-based Franklin Ellis Architects to design the new rooms and public spaces.
The lobby is set to be completed before the end of the year, with an extension of the lounge, new lighting, design features, comfortable seating and Doubletree signage installed to welcome guests for their stay.
Each bedroom will see the installation of a new 65” LED TV screens in large rooms and suites, and 55” LED TV screens in the other rooms. There will also be new beds, furniture, lighting, curtains and flooring. There will also be new design features in the rooms which reflect the identity of Coventry Building Society Arena as a leading venue for sport, entertainment and business.
Energy-efficient LED lighting will be installed throughout the hotel which will link into the wider sustainability strategy at Coventry Building Society Arena, with the hotel also set to reduce is usage of plastics and increase use of recycled items.
The hotel will also be installing USB-C ports in rooms and public areas to further future-proof the spaces. Work will also take place to improve the air conditioning system at the hotel.
Raj Balsaraf, General Manager at the hotel, says that the refurbishment will go beyond the Doubletree standard and bring significant improvements to guest experience.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the hotel and we are confident that guests will be impressed when they see the results of the refurbishment project,” said Raj.
“We are proud of the premium experience we already offer to guests, but to ensure that we maintain that level it is vital that we invest and seek to continuously improve.
“We have worked closely with designers to make sure that every change we make will contribute to an enhanced guest experience.
“The project is being completed in phases and will mean that the work can be carried out with minimal disruption for guests.”
The first three rooms will be completed in November, with the full refurbishment set to be completed in Summer 2024.
Over the last 12 months steps have already been completed to improve guest experience at the venue, including enhancing the dining experience in Faradays restaurant and introducing new state-of-the-art equipment to the on-site gym.
